Q4 on eBay: the season calendar from Halloween to Christmas

Product research2 min read

October to December is the busiest shopping season in the US. The 2026 calendar, when to research and when to list, and what to watch in stock and handling time.

In the US, the last quarter of the year (Q4) is the busiest shopping season. Demand climbs toward a few set days and falls quickly once they pass. For a seller, two questions matter: which product, and when.

The 2026 calendar

  • Halloween: Saturday, October 31. Demand for costumes and decorations builds through October and almost stops after the 31st.
  • Thanksgiving: Thursday, November 26.
  • Black Friday: Friday, November 27.
  • Cyber Monday: Monday, November 30.
  • Christmas: Friday, December 25. A gift has to arrive before Christmas; in the last days buyers look at delivery time first.

When to research, when to list

A seasonal item has to be listed before demand climbs: a listing takes time to get views, first sales and feedback. eBay's sold listings search shows roughly the last 90 days; you can't see last year's November there today. So do the research in September and October, before the season starts, and follow the sales through it.

  • September–October: pick the item, settle supply and price.
  • Early October: Halloween items are live.
  • Late October: Black Friday and Christmas items are live.
  • November: prices and stock change most in the week of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
  • December: delivery time decides whether an order makes it by Christmas.

Stock and handling time

In the season a supplier's stock runs out fast and prices change often. If an item sells while it's out of stock you can't fill the order; a cancellation loses the buyer and shows in your seller metrics. Keep your listing's handling time realistic: in the weeks carriers are busiest, an order you can't ship within the time you promised counts as a late shipment.
