Two ways to track Amazon sources: the Seller Library Tracking System and the extension

SellerLibrary1 min read

The Amazon price and stock of your live listings are watched two ways: the Tracking System, every 12 hours even with your computer off, and the extension, 1, 2 or 4 times a day. How they differ and when to choose which.

An eBay listing's profit stays only as current as its source's price and stock. That's why SellerLibrary watches the source two separate ways; both can run for the same product.

The Seller Library Tracking System

  • Runs on the server; it doesn't wait for your computer or Chrome to be open.
  • Checks products about every 12 hours.
  • How many products it watches at once is your package's tracking capacity.

Extension tracking

  • Reads from your own browser; the computer and Chrome must be open.
  • You choose how often: 1, 2 or 4 times a day.
  • It doesn't depend on the Tracking System's capacity.

Which one, when?

If your computer isn't on all day, or your products fit within your capacity, the Tracking System is enough. For products you want checked more often during the day, add extension tracking. Which way a product is tracked and when it was last checked show on the My products screen.

If you see 'unknown'

If Amazon doesn't show a page or asks for a verification, no value is guessed; the product is marked 'unknown' and the time and value of the last real check are kept. An old price is never shown as new.

What happens on a change?

You choose in Rules: in Suggest mode a change waits for your approval; in Rule mode it's applied within the limits you set. More on the Stock and price tracking and Rules pages; each package's tracking capacity is on the Pricing page.

Common questions

Can I use both ways for the same product?

Yes. The Tracking System checks every 12 hours on the server, and the extension checks in your browser at the frequency you choose.

What if my Tracking System capacity fills?

Products beyond the capacity aren't taken into the Tracking System; you can watch them with the extension or change your package.
